Northwest also offers innovative interdisciplinary programs in nanoscience and interactive digital media.
Study Abroad
Study Abroad provides students the opportunity to participate in academic programs that will increase their awareness, appreciation, and respect for other cultures in the context of their chosen discipline. Through direct contact with other people, languages, and traditions of another culture, students will enhance their understanding of themselves, their academic curriculum, their communities, and the world. Through Study Abroad experiences students will develop vocational opportunities and the necessary skills for personal, professional and intercultural interaction in an interdependent world.
Honors
The Honors Program at Northwest Missouri State University is specifically targeted for high-ability, motivated students. In your first trimester as an honors student, you might typically enroll in two or three honors classes. These classes are sections of existing courses that are specifically enhanced for honors students. With the change to take more small classes, you’ll have ample opportunities to express yourself and interact closely with professors and classmates in an intellectually enriching environment.
- Honors sections will typically involve the following:
- more extensive reading and/or more ambitious laboratory work,
- more intellectual territory and in-depth conversation,
- exploring connections within and among disciplines,
- relating of course material to a diverse global society,
- challenging educational experience beyond the classroom,
- more opportunities for research and capstone experiences.
